I pulled down 4 trees today

that's right. there were four trees in the back yard of my parents house that are gone now.. they had this guy come out and cut them, but because my dad's ankle is bad i went over today to help out. my job was to pull the rope while the guy made the cut and pull the tree the right direction. we cut them all in two pieces.. i think the trees must have been 60 to 75 feet tall. or so.. it was awesome.. but i'm gonna be sore tomorrow.. or later tonight.. idont' know. .. anyway.. that was my morning.. now i'm listening to a violin thing on youtube.. it's purdy.

One more thing...

Cat's berfday is tomorrow. the 24th. that means that today is my dad's berfday. i should call him. I should give Cat a present.

don't speak too soon

ok, so i'm gonna.. but i've been worried about this week's workshop for the last three weeks. I thought no one on the team would see the benefits of changing our process in a big way. but yesterday at the end of the day they did. it was awesome. i was so relieved. and i have no idea if today will be the same.. but now instead of worrying about the team getting there, i have to worry about getting our sensei on the same page because it's tricky to do the forms. anyway. i gotta get there and lead my team to stunning achievement. and it will stun.. you mark my words.

yesterday the people on my team said they'd fight to work on the team we're building.. good sign.

straw man

so i hear the term "straw man" alot. everywhere it seems. especially on my chinese herb mail list.. among other places. and i notice that it's a colorful term... so i think i should look it up. so long ago, i looked it up. it means an argument made for the sake of refuting. or a front-man for an illicit or shadey business.. a detractor.. like that word i learned a bit ago.. i can't remember what that word was. anyway. the way i usually hear straw man used is to mean 'mock-up' or prototype. so it confuses me... which i only occasionally enjoy. the part that sucks is, you can't tell a bunch of people they're using a word wrong when they all understand what each other are saying.. and you're the only one who doesn't get it. it makes you sound like an ass, and makes them feel like asses, generally. which sucks. so i will just not speak up. because what's the point. but some-day i'll use straw man to mean the thing it actually means. and no one will understand what i mean. they'll think i mean prototype when i am talking about the argument they made that was a red herring...

or is it a red herring? i think it is. yes.

i was gonna write...

i just ate two burritos. they were good. and also i'm thirsty for some kind of juice. but i don't have any.. wait i do have some in the fridge. speaking of the fridge, it was being totally quiet today and we were worried it stopped working.... which would have been a good reason to get a new one.. which i have been kind of forgetting about all the time. but anyway.. it started going again.. so we'll have to wait again.. because i refuse to do anything but run this fridge into the ground. so yeah. anyway. i'm gonna go now. i think i will be playing some vidya games this evening while cat watches saw 2.. which i don't want to see.. because saw one was so aggravating.. gurble.

it's probably time for that. i don't think i ate enough food today. some days i just don't remember to eat. it happens at work, it happens at home. we'll see, maybe soon i'll eat something delicious. probably not so much. i made avgolemono for dinner, but really it was for Cat.. she likes the avgolemono. i filled out my acupuncture license renewal today. i'm going to have to track down some continuing ed one of these days.. but not for a few years. i believe the state does not require continuing ed for the license, however i have to complete it to remain nationally certified by the board. well, anyway.. i'm gonna go now.

i wanted to take a moment to give a congratulatory (speaking of Tory...) nod to Shannon for graduating after all these years (Pepe, you've still got your title) ! good job Shannon! with all the awards and whatnot, and your many changes of course. Here's to many more. i'm very impressed with your perseverance and at the risk of sounding redundant stick-tuitive-ness.
