interesting thing

today i did something unusual and good. it was very hot today and i had to be outside and drive in my hotbox of a car. come the end of the day i saw myself in the mirror and noticed how greasy, shiney, and ruddy i was. so there's a zen story about an old man working under the scorching sun just a sweatin' and a workin' and a young man comes to him and says: "why do you toil in the sun?" and he says: " because i am here, and the sun is here." the story goes on to explain that to escape the misery of extreme temperatures you must perceive them as the same as you. if it is very hot, be very hot, and if it is very cold, then be very cold. you must be one with your surroundings. so today my surroundings would have been unbearable...rather.. and i was one with them enough to have not really noticed. i was aware enough to know it was f-ing hot. mostly inside my car. but yeah.. i thought that was interesting.

oh yeah, they had $100 violins at the music store when i went.. i didn't get one. i have enough toys.
