happy xmas

i like to call it xmas. makes me feel like it really is more of a secular holiday, which i'd prefer it be. especially since jebus wasn't born on december 25, and my sources say most likely it wasn't even in the winter, but the early xtians wanted to keep their winter soltice-time holiday spirit and just pretended it was also jebus's birthday. and holidays are really their own reason after all.. what you do for the holiday is the reason for it. whether you crawl under a rock or into a cave and do whatever cave-dwellers do, or you hang out with extended or immediate family.. friends.. etc. or you binge and purge.. or get loaded at a work party and make an ass of yourself.. then purge. it's doing those things that matter. i mean really, i enjoy t-giving, but if i think about what the american colonists did to native americans it makes me so mad.. those colonists were ugly ugly bastards and should have been cursed forever for their wicked ways (perhaps the results of that curse are all around me now.. in those idiot people i complain about all the time.. ) but i digress. i mean to say that the holiday itself is a time we go have big food with family. and what do i like more than eating big food with family? taking four days off from work in a row! what's a bigger winner than that? NOTHING... so there you have it. my xmas diatribe. and thank you for reading it.

Hey Brett! That's all true. I was exploring something sort of similar in a slightly more quasi-political vein as far as what society can do when we all put our mind to it and agree that for this day, the vast majority of us (those who can afford to at least) are going to be nice people and stuff... that's over on my new livejournal thingy. But MERRY CHRISTMAS all the same. :)

You know that the reason it's called Xmas is because the X is Greek for "Chi" which the Greeks used to represent Christ. So says the Common Errors in English.
